Semcam AI Cameras
Semcam AI cameras are the capture end of the Semcam Live markerless motion capture system. Participants do not wear mocap suits or reflective markers; the cameras analyze motion on site and send results to ActiveCenter for unified visualization, recording, and output.
PRO, PRO+, and ULTRA target different capture scales. They share the same edge computing approach, while differing in processing capability, number of people, capture distance, and high-precision features.

Why Put AI in the Camera
Each Semcam camera includes edge AI compute. Images are processed at the camera, and only the data required for motion capture is sent to ActiveCenter.
This makes multi-camera deployment easier, improves real-time response, lets compute capacity scale with the camera array, improves operational stability, and reduces raw-image transfer and storage.
Choosing a Model
| Model | Recommended scenarios | Typical capabilities |
|---|---|---|
| PRO | Small studios, teaching demos, previs, VR interaction, rapid deployment | 2.3 MP, up to 4 people, about 18 m, about 10 W |
| PRO+ | University labs, life sciences, robotics, professional animation and VFX | 2.3 MP, up to 4 people, about 18 m, HPE and hand capture |
| ULTRA | Large labs, LBE, simulation training, large-space multi-person interaction | 5.2 MP, up to 12 people, about 45 m, HPE, hand, and face capture |
PRO is a lightweight real-time entry configuration. PRO+ adds HPE and hand capture for research, analysis, and refined animation. ULTRA is intended for larger spaces, more people, and more complex occlusion; actual availability and configuration should be confirmed per project.
More Than Specifications
Camera model is only part of the system. Results also depend on space size, field-of-view overlap, mounting stability, lighting, occlusion, and motion complexity. Before selection, confirm the number of people, capture area, maximum distance, need for HPE, hands or face, complex movement patterns, rigid-body tracking needs, and the target output workflow.
If rigid bodies or marked objects must be tracked, Semcam can be combined with Goku optical cameras so human motion and object motion remain in one system.
Installation and Capture Experience
Semcam cameras support PoE, so power and data can use a single cable. After mounting on trusses, stands, or fixed points, ActiveCenter discovers, configures, and calibrates them.

With suitable coverage, participants can move naturally in ordinary clothing while the system displays body rigs and motion results in real time.

Shared Capabilities
All models share camera-side edge AI processing, PoE connectivity, multi-camera synchronization and management, RGB and optical operating modes, body status indicators, and integration with Goku, ActiveCenter, and optional analysis modules.
Configuration Note
People count, distance, power, and functions help explain model positioning. Actual capability depends on installation, camera quantity, software version, licensed modules, and project configuration.
